Homeopathic Theory Applied

Homeopathic medicine and allopathic, or standard medical practice are opposite in their approach to health. The following are two examples of each theory applied to common health problems we face today.

MENOPAUSE
The slowing down of estrogen production is a natural occurrence in the healthy system of all adult women. Many women suffer with hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and mood swings, however. For them, the adjustment to the process is not as easy as nature intended. Standard medical treatment assumes that the problem is the lack of estrogen, and the solution is to add more estrogen back into the woman's body. The risks of Hormone Replacement Therapy are well-known and documented.

A homeopathic approach recognizes that the woman is experiencing difficulty adjusting to a natural process of female mid-life. A homeopathic approach addresses her specific symptoms as well as the woman's complete constitution. As she becomes well with homeopathic medicine, her endocrine system is allowed to correct itself. The symptoms lessen, and eventually disappear completely.

DEPRESSION
Standard medical practice often states that depression is caused by a "chemical imbalance" in the brain, and recommends the use of anti-depressants drugs. The drugs suppress the symptoms of depression by interfering with brain chemistry, with various long-term results. Understanding that no two people experience depression in the same manner, homeopathic medicine addresses the depressive symptoms unique to the person, as well as their general constitution. As the person becomes well, the brain chemistry corrects itself, the symptoms lessen, and eventually disappear.
